Glen Iris Childcare and Kindergarten - Toddlers

18 months - 3 years

Our Toddlers Room accommodates up to 16 children per day, with a 1:4 educator-to-child ratio, ensuring each child receives the attention and guidance they need. The room is a cosy, homely space designed to foster a love of learning, providing children with a nurturing environment that encourages exploration and involvement in a variety of activities.

Toddlers participate in a wide range of age-appropriate experiences, such as art, music, movement, and storytelling, all of which support their development while allowing them to grow at their own pace. These activities are designed to help children develop key skills in language, self-expression, and social interaction.

Our Room Leader develops an educational program based on regular observations of the children, their interests, and suggestions from families. The program provides resources and activities that encourage independence and stimulate curiosity. Both indoor and outdoor learning experiences are incorporated to support all areas of development. In our outdoor play area, we also engage with the environment and explore sustainability through hands-on learning.

The room’s flexible routine offers a balance of small and large group activities, as well as spaces for cooperative and solitary play. As children build friendships and interact with their peers, Educators guide them through appropriate social behaviours, helping them develop important social and emotional skills. Every day, children engage in meaningful interactions with Educators, fostering the acquisition of skills that support their learning and growth.

The Toddlers Room is equipped with ample space and facilities to support your child’s development. This includes an easily accessible bathroom for toileting and plenty of areas for indoor physical activity. There is also a strong emphasis on developing self-help skills and continuous support for your child’s language development and self-expression.
